Beginners Overview
Embarking on any learning journey can seem daunting. The internet is overloaded with information on how best to learn to play guitar. From “expert” tutorials to online courses promising ‘proven’ methods, it can feel overwhelming. At Waldron Guitar Academy, we try to make the experience easy to navigate.
For beginners, our team of specialists break down the learning process into weekly, achievable goals. With practice, you will improve. Over time, these small victories add up to real, demonstrable progress and – with a bit of perseverance – proficiency.
Yes, you will have to work – daily practice is an absolute must. But if you are ready and willing to put in the work, our instructors will point you in the right direction to ensure you are on the most efficient path to your goals.
Our Approach
Beginners at Waldron Guitar Academy follow a ‘finger-first’ methodology. This means technique above all else. While there are many aspects to musicianship (e.g. ear-training, music theory, repertoire, etc.), the most immediate need for any beginner is to learn to use their hands in a way that produces clean chords, smooth chord changes and rhythmically accurate performances. Once these basic skills have been ingrained, higher concepts can be explored.
Student Practice Expectations
Students are expected to practice every day for at least the length of their regular lesson. A student receiving a weekly 45-minute lesson should expect to practice at least 45 minutes per day in order to be prepared for their next lesson.
Student Spotlight
We take immense pride in our students for their hard work and dedication.
